I prefer Marvin Lewis' name for him. The difference between crazy and eccentric is a few million dollars. Not that I really care what a person wants to call themselves. I once worked with a girl who had her name changed to Tray'C.

After the season, coach Marvin Lewis - who dislikes Johnson's
attention-getting stunts - referred to the receiver as "Ocho Psycho."

NFL: Bengal first must buy 'C.
Johnson' gear to wear 'Ocho Cinco'
Before he can wear a jersey with his new surname emblazoned on the back, he first must buy every "C. Johnson" jersey for sale nationwide. And there are thousands of "C. Johnson" replica jerseys available, with a production cost of about $48 apiece.Interesting. Even though the stakes would be much lower, I wonder what the WNBA does when a player gets married and chooses to use her husband's surname.
I think a case could be made that Yost is the best manager in the division. I know that doesn't say much about MLB managers in general.

I get it, but it still doesn't make sense. Does the team have to buy back the jerseys of the players they cut? Why would the NFL allow this clause to be in their apparel contract? William |

That's stupid. Do they realize how fast "Ocho Cinco" jersey's would fly off the shelves?

Reebok is stuck with any inventory of the jerseys they have manufactured but not shipped. Retailers get stuck with many as well. That's quite a bit of
money tied up in inventory that would have to be sold at a significant discount. If the NFL allows Chad to change his name so quickly what makes them believe
he may not do it again and cost everyone more money?
Not to mention the NFL is not the XFL. This sort of move is the beginning of the dumbing down of the NFL. It's not as if Chad changed his name for a religious reason or change in legal status (i.e. marriage). It's a joke. The NFL is a serious business like any other and I don't believe they appreciate one of their employees making a slight mockery of its history and current status. |

From my fantasy football league (not sure of the newspaper/source, but it's an 'official' write-up):
"I really wish they'd let me take this thing off because it's getting in the way," [Johnson] said, moving his left shoulder freely once the brace was loosened. "Seriously, it's getting in the way. It's hampering my performance. It's just in the way. I don't want it on me." He may want to keep it for at least one more week. The Tennessee Titans are coming to town with a determination not to let the Pro Bowl receiver embarrass them again. When they played last season in Cincinnati, the Bengals receiver had a career day featuring an over-the-top touchdown celebration. The Titans remember how Ocho Cinco rubbed it in. "Definitely, we're looking forward to playing the Bengals and 'Oucho' Cinco this week," Titans linebacker Keith Bulluck said. "We're aware of his shoulder. He has a little 'owie.' We definitely send that message to him."

I Heart Brewers wrote:Allowing has nothing to do with it. The NFL has no right to stop a person from changing their name. My main point was that changing your name to something ridiculous (Ocho Cinco) is why the NFL is making this difficult. Making him buy his jerseys is the
backlash associated with that. Chad Johnson has acted like a child most of his career. Right or wrong this is the NFL's retaliation of sorts.
And if a player is cut or traded it's out of the players hands, this was Chad's decisions, not an organizations. |

Again that is not my point, my opinion is that the reason the NFL is doing this is because Chad is turning this name change stunt into a circus. He has an
attention seeking personality and this name change has nothing to do with anything that is serious (again, religious, marriage, or otherwise), therefore the
NFL is doing whatever it can to block it.
He's creating the double standard by acting like a child. He is ultimately an employee of the NFL. His intentions are silly and therefore he's being treated in a manner that reflects that behavior. |

Okay. You don't like Chad Ocho Cinco. I get it. That's fine. But to insinuate the NFL is imposing this due to his child-like antics is false. It's a policy they've endorsed before: Changing jersey number for Raiders' Porter would cost him $210,000 My question still is why does the NFL allow this behavior from it's players but not it's teams? It appears that union offiicials were asleep at the switch on that one. William |

Because the teams choose to lose out on that money when they cut or trade a player. The player has no clout to dictate changes to a revenue stream (NFL
merchandise). NFL teams do.
I do agree on the union issue. They are so weak and the players suffer from it. Right or wrong about the Ocho thing (and I think we may have to agree to disagree), I think we agree on that issue.

5 catches for 59 yards and no TD's through 2 games so far
That injury looks to be effecting him big time, or Palmer and the Bengals just stink. Both are probably true. And on the whole Ocho Cinco thing. The NFL just doesn't want him to turn the league into a gimmick. They are all business and don't like his little games. But it IS his name now I guess. |

Well, if I'm forced to select from Teen Wolf, I'd go with 'Boof' over 'Stiles'. 'Boof Bonser'. Or maybe 'B00f Bonzer',
so I can "make it my own"!

I loved that movie as a kid. I dreamed of being able to walk into a liquor store, eyes glowing red and growling, "Give...me a keg...of beer!" It
also made car surfing popular.
I recently saw a "double feature" DVD of Teen Wolf/Teen Wolf II at Target for $4.50 (thought I would mention that in case Santa is reading).
