I think something that is immensely underrated in the NFL is your nickel back. I wouldn't mind taking a corner in the first round if its the best player available. Its a need on our football team.

Posts: 2171 January 5, 2010 5:15 PM	I think you're vastly underrating Tramon Williams. Could be decent? He's at least an above average corner right now, and he's still young. And Harris and Woodson have been "getting old" for the past 3 years on this site, and they haven't shown much of a decline. In Woodson's case, he somehow got better. They already have one replacement in Williams, so I don't think there's a dire need to use a pick there when there are needs in other places. Again, if Collins or Bigby goes down, who do you put in? And we've already seen what happens if Clifton or Tauscher gets injured. We still need OLB depth. Grant doesn't really have a legitimate backup that can carry the load if need be. Corner is maybe the 4th or 5th biggest need on this team. 3/4 of the World is Covered by Water The Rest is by Charles Woodson

Maybe Harris can become the nickel back? Its stupid to think that since they haven't aged yet, that they aren't going to. I'd pretty much take the best player available thats not a QB, TE, WR, or DT. As I think we are set there, although I wouldn't mind adding another TE or WE in the middle rounds with lots of upside.

Bush was and is 6th on the depth chart at CB after Lee and Blackmon if they're still healthy. Two athletes like Woodson and Harris aren't exactly going to fall off the face of the earth and Williams is clearly starting caliber. Having 3 of your top 5 CBs go down is not very likely to happen in one season, much less two seasons in a row. If they add another body near the top of the draft, fine, but just not at the expense of o-line. William

While this is true, I think concerns about how Harris will look coming off of knee surgery are legitimate. Unless Haden somehow drops to the Packers I'd agree that there are more pressing needs, but it is a position (along with safety) that should be addressed. Posts: 489 January 5, 2010 10:02 PM	Everything I've read about this draft so far says that this is a weak first round OT class Well, you don't have the uber-LT prospects of years past such as Jason Smith, D'Brickeshaw Ferguson, or Joe Thomas, but there is plenty of depth; it's no class of 2008, but I think they will have as many OTs picked in the first as 2009 and 2007, and Ferguson was the only one picked in 2006. There could easily be three OTs taken in the top 10-12 - Okung, Williams, and Anthony Davis. Bruce Campbell, if he comes out, will almost certainly be a 1st round pick too. Since this will probably be the last year of rookie mega-contracts I wouldn't be surprised if teams take a more conservative approach with draft picks. Typically OL have among the lowest "bust" rate among first round picks, so I am anticipating teams go with safer picks such as OL and riskier picks such as QBs and character risks will slide. Some good OTs have been nabbed at the end of the first round who weren't considered to be first round talent - Joe Staley, Duane Brown, and Sam Baker come to mind. As for CBs, like I said, I think there is an equal chance that they pick one in the top 3 rounds as there is of not picking one at all. Depends on what they think of Lee, Underwood, and Ford, and the health of Harris. Only they know that. I doubt they will go 1st round on a CB, but I wouldn't be surprised at all if they took one in the 2nd or 3rd. Actually, CB looks to be weaker than OT as Scouts Inc. only has two with first round grades - Joe Haden (#4 overall) and Patrick Robinson (#25 overall). I'm thinking of the Darren Sharper or Huff types out of Texas that fall somewhere in the middle of a prototypical CB and S coming out of college. I agree that the Packers don't need a CB early, but the depth is concerning to me. I too like Williams, but we have to face the fact that Woodson and Harris are getting older, and Pat Williams hasn't been able to play. Even Blackmon hasn't been able to stay healthy enough to give the team some much needed depth at the CB position. This would be a good year to go BPA, as I hope the team, almost regardless of what happens during the playoffs, addresses their OL need via free agency, because it's glaring enough to warrant the investment and clearly this team is on the verge of being potentially special. I agree, but I can't see Woodson declining for another few years, and even if Harris declines rapidly, we would still have a very good starting duo with Woodson and Williams. Posts: 13 January 6, 2010 7:41 PM	As much as OT might be the biggest need right now I can be 100% sure TT isn't going to reach for a tackle based on that need which is reassuring. The more I read and think about it their is a definite plateau of tackles below the top tier and I actually think we can get a decent tackle later in the draft (2-5th round). Im starting to warm to the idea of getting a guy like Iupati or even Ducasse to solidify the LG and drafting a tackle later or potentially adding one in FA. I think a lot depends on where they see Lang permanently fitting. If he truly is the RT of the future that solves one tackle or if his future lies at LG. I don't want to say all moves revolve around his future but I think he plays a big role. On the Harris, Williams, draft a CB debate I like the idea of having harris come in as the nickle with woodson and williams starting. That being said will Harris be fully ready by training camp or for the start of the season (think Barnett)? I don't think we can count on Blackmon due to his injury history (too lazy right now but has he ever had a season available for all 16 games). Lee and Underwood are still young and unproven and like lang their status with the coaches and front office will probably play a role in draft strategy. Like I said in the first sentence, I think TT will draft the best player available with team needs a distant second so CB and OT aren't out of the question but I don't think OLB, safety or RB can be counted out either...lets just hope there's not a lights out punter at the combine

This is his 3rd year and on IR again. He'll be a nice guy on the roster if he can stay healthy, and immediately upgrades the return game, but I don't think he should ever be counted on in the secondary. I actually hope they use him as strictly a returner going forward so he has a better chance of being there when the playoffs come around. On the Harris, Williams, draft a CB debate I like the idea of having harris come in as the nickle with woodson and williams starting. Look at Bigby and Collins- both pretty big dudes and strong against the run.
